Rub herbs spices all round chicken and set aside to marinated for 2 hours at least before steaming |

I steamed estimate 1 - 1 1/2 hours till soft as per my own preference. Use a skwer to prick and ensure there are no chicken blood.

Remove from steamer and as time past ..you will notice the chicken skin will turn browner.Well I use a strainer to strain the gravy as to segregate the blood clot away. |

Salad for decoration you can use any type of salad as per own preference.well I would recommend brocoli is suitable indeed too . |

Button mushroom and 150 g Chinese Kei Chi or add any additional likes red dates and etc...as per own preference. |

I am using one can peace brand button mushroom you can use any brand of your own preference |

In a claypot add in 500 ml plain water to boil, then add in 4 Japanese shitake mushroom, 100 g chestnut to simmer till almost soften add in sliced carrot to simmer till soften. |

Add in steamed chicken gravy and also add in button mushroom |

After adding steam chicken gravy ..this is how it looks like

Continue to simmer till soften ..lastly add in chinese kei chi simmer for 5 minutes and add in cornstarch solution for thickening. Taste sweet salty according to own preference and pour gravy on to steam chicken. |
Iingredients at the back of this packet, the packet of herbs and spices contains 20 grams powder mixture of Ginseng, Wolfberry, Tang Gui, Dang Shen, Chuan Gong, Beiqi, Licorice Root (Gan Cao), Pepper, Salt and MSG.
If the taste is too empowering herbal taste add in more water.
You have some extra Shitake mushroom,red dates Huai Shan and it is lovely to add in as well. Add anything of your own personal preference suite your taste bud.

Well since we are only 2 person having the dish ..we just cannot finished them .. You could add extra water and braised it the next day and become Chicken Herbal Chap Chai. Well .. I am sure some do not eat left over food.. It is up to individual preference..But the taste yummy... add seasoning according to own preference since we have add more water but for sure the herbs taste is still very strong.. Good luck |
